2015 District VIII Leadership Award Recipient

The CASE District VIII 2015 Leadership Award is Dr. Elson S. Floyd, President of Washington State University (WSU). This award recognizes a district member institution president or head, chancellor, educational system head, or CEO for outstanding efforts to promote the understanding and support of education.

Dr. Floyd has been president of Washington State University since May 2007. Under his leadership, the university has been transformed according to his nominators, noting he has re-defined WSU and positively impacted every aspect of the institution. During the $ 1 billion Campaign for Washington State University: Because the World Needs Big Ideas, he was responsible for securing several of the largest private commitments in the university's history, essentially doubling the Foundation's private support annually. Described as having the ability to "put big ideas within reach", Dr. Floyd is recognized as the inspirational driver for the transformational commitments of the campaign that without his vision and active role, would not have been realized.

"The CASE District VIII Recognition Program celebrates exemplary achievement in the field of advancement by member institutions," says Chris Horbachewski, Chair of the CASE VIII Board of Directors. "On behalf of the board I would like to congratulate Dr. Floyd for his outstanding leadership, he is an exemplar to what our program stands for, his accomplishments exemplify standards by which we compare our work, and educate and inspire ourselves to greater success."
