Online fund raising is more than simply having a website or asking for gifts by email. Come explore the interesting and fast-moving world of philanthropy in cyberspace. We’ll look at the remarkable growth of online support in the nonprofit sector and explore some of the approaches used by the most successful organizations. Don’t worry if you’re html-illiterate or just now getting comfortable with the concept of e-anything! This session will present more on the philosophy and approach of online communications for fund raising (who, what, when, why) and less on the technical side (how). Learn more about integrating these concepts into your fund raising program.

David S. Jones
Director of Annual & Special Giving
University of Georgia

David S. Jones is the Director of Annual & Special Giving at the University of Georgia where he has served in development for the last ten years.  Previously coordinating the alumni and development programs for UGA's Warnell School of Forest Resources, he transitioned to his current role for the university's advancement in 1998.The program saw a significant boost after implementing a multiple-ask strategy in FY2000.The Georgia Fund presently raises more than $8.25 million through an integrated phone, mail and electronic campaign.

David is an active CASE member and a regular presentor on annual giving topics. He has chaired the national CASE conference on Essential Direct Marketing Techniques conference four times and also served on the Summer Institute in Educational Fund Raising faculty at Dartmouth College this past summer. 

David is a "double dog" alumnus of UGA with an undergraduate degree in Public Relations from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication and a Master's degree in Organizational Development from the College of Education.  He and his wife Stacy live in the small historic town of Monroe located between Atlanta and Athens--with their two-year-old son Hendley and five-month-old daughter Kaylor. David and Stacy are both active volunteers with their church and other non-profit organizations benefiting youth leadership development and the arts. David often consults on fund raising as well as board development and strategic planning efforts for non-profit groups.
